SAMUEL BURI (1935 - )
Samuel Buri is a Swiss painter, graphic artist, object artist, glass and wall painter, based in Basel. Starting his career in the traditional ouevre, in 1955 he received a scholarship from the Kiefer Hablitzel Foundation and in 1956 he developed the first semi-abstract pictures in his new Habkern location. He moved to Paris at the end of 1959. In 1985, a wall painting was created at the Zunfthaus Zum Schlüssel in Basel, which received a distinction from the Basler Heimatschutz in 1986. In 1990 he received the art prize of the Basler Zeitung.
