Ken Buckland was an influential English Abstract Expressionist. He was associated with the St. Ives School & the Tachisme Movement; a European variation of Abstract Expressionism popularised by Jean DeBuffet, Antoni Tapies & Pierre Soulages. He arrived in AUstralia in 1961 at the peak of abstract expressionism, and used his unique background to produce several interesting works inspired by the Australian landscape.
