Rev. LAURENCE GEORGE BOMFORD (1847 - 1926)

Rev. Laurence George Bomford was an accomplished English/Irish Impressionist. Richmond Park is the largest Royal National Park in London, established in 1625 by Charles I as a Red & Fallow deer park, but not officially opened to the public until 1872 (the year before this picture was painted). In 1873, the Shah of Persia was the first modern Iranian monarch to travel to Europe, and this was the exact view he would have experienced overlooking London when he visited the park that year.
