CYRIL GRANT LANE (1875 - 1948)

Cyril Grant Lane respected British photographer, naturalist, lecturer, and author. A member of the British Empire Naturalist Association, he first came to Australia in the 1890s, travelling extensively and photographed bush landscapes and native animals, birds and reptiles. After returning to England he published a book 'Creature-life in Australian wilds' (1912) and  'Adventures in the big bush: in the haunts of the Aboriginal' (1928).This impressive, original, rare albumen photograph was produced as Lane travelled North from Sydney Harbour, past the Central Coast en route to Queensland.
