Beard Watson Arts and Crafts Blackwood Chairs c.1905
These attractive Arts and Crafts chairs were made by noted Sydney furniture manufacturer, Beard Watson Ltd (brass maker’s plaque underneath). They are made of solid Blackwood and feature simple cut-outs and original floral upholstery. The distinctive Japanese style will suit modern and heritage decor.

Late Victorian Ladder back Chair c.1895
This Late Victorian rosewood ladder back chair is a wonderful example of the quality furniture manufactured at the turn of the century by Beard Watson Ltd. These popular ladder back chairs were designed by Grimson & Barnsley of London and faithfully reproduced by the local Sydney firm. They were advertised on their comprehensive and stylish catalogues. This chair is one of a trio that are each upholstered in neutral woven material and are in commendable condition (the French polish is slightly crazed). The copper plaque – Beard Watson Ltd, Sydney, Upholsterers & Co – is located under the frame with the indented number 7819.

These two unique Arts and Crafts oak hall chairs have the original patina and ornate celtic carving on the back and legs with original castors. They have been recovered with quality dark brown studded leather over the original padding, springs and webbing. They are extremely sturdy and will look impressive in the lounge room, dining room or hallway.

The chair, with its unusual design with sweeping arms, is often referred to as an Abingdon chair and is in the manner of George Henry Walton (1867 -1933) of Glasgow and London. They are strongly constructed of solid oak with the seats and backs professionally reupholstered with beautiful "antique cedar" leather over their original springs. They have retained their original patina, are extremely comfortable and are definitely a rare find.
