JOAN BECK (1916 - 1989)

Joan Beck was a prominent Australian abstract artist, active during the 1960s. Her paintings often included mythical themes, such as horses, zebras or unicorns, or symbolism. Her pallet would consist of earthy reds, browns or black, and often made use of natural, bare surface texture, or mixed media. Beck's style fits in with the oeuvre of mid century, industrial and retro design, and as such, her artworks are very popular and sought in today's secondary market.
