GEORGE BRADFORD ASHWORTH (1892-1951)

George Bradford Ashworth  was a famous New York stage designer, and American watercolourist). Originally from Fall River, Massachusetts, he studied at the Art Students League in New York with his friends, George Bellows & Kenneth Hayes Miller (two of the greatest 20th century American Modernists). He directed and designed several Broadway shows, before becoming the Director of the celebrated Elitch Gardens Theater in Denver, Colorado. He was a member of the Camouflage Society of Professional Stage-Set Designers. As a painter, he held many successful solo exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the American Watercolor Society.
