MONICA MAJZOUB (XX - )

Monica Majzoub is an Australian based artist and Syrian refugee. Having travelled widely and lived through civil unrest in the Middle East, Monica migrated to England in the mid 1960s and studied painting at the Central School of Art and Camberwell College of Art. She relocated to Adelaide in 1976, where she exhibited at the Hill Smith Gallery, Prospect Gallery, as well as mixed exhibitions at the Royal South Australian Society of Arts and Contemporary Arts Society. This work portrays our rich Australian sporting tradition of Aussie Rules, a popular subject for several important Australian artists such as Weaver Hawkins, Ethel Spowers and Sidney Nolan.
