John Henry Frederick Bacon MVO ARA was a distinguished British Victorian painter and genre artist. He was an Associate of the Royal Academy (ARA) and was awarded the MVO (Member of the Royal Victorian Order) for distinguished service to the King. Bacon also illustrated books as well as magazines and periodicals, but died tragically and prematurely at the age of 49. This work was most probably an illustration for a book or magazine.
