DAWN SIME (1932 - 2001)
Dawn Sime is one of the pioneers of the abstract movement in Melbourne during the late 1950s and ’60s. During the 1950s, Dawn Sime was part of Melbourne's blossoming and influential contemporary art movement. Geometric abstraction influenced her early work and it's lessons were still evident in her late 1970s and early 1980s work, while later she developed a more fluid style of abstraction. She held many solo exhibitions and her work appears in public institutions such as the NGV and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
