RICHARD V. SIMPSON (1890 - 1968)
Richard V. Simpson was a respected Australian landscape photographer. A member of the Sydney Camera Circle, he was known for his bleak, barren landscapes across New South Wales. He frequently exhibited works alongside some of Australia's greatest early 20th century photographers, including Harold Cazneaux & Max Dupain at institutions such as the Victorian Salon of Photography. ‘The Art Gallery of NSW holds five of Simpson's bromoil photographs, two of which share the similar characteristics and period, but are definitely not as impressive as this rare piece!!
